The agitators raised slogans demanding the withdrawal of TBSE’s decision on temporary prohibition in Roman script uses for TBSE examinations. A tussle was generated between the police and the TSF activists. Later police arrested all the protesters and vacated the CM residence area.
The issue erupted after TBSE declared that Roman script could not be used for Kokborok language anymore. Till now both Roman and Bangla were allowed whereas the sudden order has generated resentment and also hurdles for many students who are from English medium backgrounds.
TBSE President however has put an excuse of sending a request to CBSE to allow Roman script for Kokborok and the request is yet pending.
