AGARTALA, Feb 12 (TIWN): Reacting to TBSE President’s claim that due to CBSE is not permitting TBSE to allow Roman script for Kokborok language exams, leader of the opposition Animesh Debbarma said, this claim is baseless and false. He accused TBSE President of making an irrelevant excuse for his decision. “Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) is an autonomous body, how can any other board influence its decisions?” asked Animesh Debbarma. The issue erupted after TBSE declared that Roman script could not be used for Kokborok language anymore. Till now both Roman and Bangla were allowed whereas the sudden order has generated resentment and also hurdles for many students who are from English medium backgrounds. TBSE President however has put an excuse of sending a request to CBSE to allow Roman script for Kokborok and the request is yet pending.
Animesh Debbarma said, there is no connection between TBSE and CBSE. So TBSE’s attempt to stretch CBSE’s name for not permitting Kokborok script is bizarre.
Various student organizations today called for strike and blockade against the decision of TBSE.
