AGARTALA, Feb 7 (TIWN): After a successful operation on their 7-day-old baby at Tripura Medical College, parents named their child after the Doctor’s name. Brajalal Tripura admitted his 7-day-old child to TMC hospital who was referred from Dhalai District Hospital doctor after suspecting a serious illness of the child. The family is poor and so the Doctor at Dhalai District booked a private car from his own pocket to refer the child. TMC Doctor Aniruddha Basak said the child was brought to TMC hospital in critical condition and after 3 days of investigation, it was found that the child was suffering from Jejunal Atresia which needed an immediate operation.
The baby had undergone a successful operation and through surgery, a new jejunal was planted.
Dr. Basak said, this is not the first ever successful operation in the hospital but earlier also it was done by Doctors here in TMC hospital successfully.
“Whereas in private hospitals, just for the operation it would be charged at least five to six lakhs, if the patient party has Ayushman Bharat card, the treatment is free here. However, this family did not have the card so it changed around nine thousand rupees,” said Dr. Basak.
“I came with tears. My wife was continuously on phone, worried and all family members were tense. Today, we all are so happy and the happiness can’t be expressed in words. I already decided if my son survives I will keep his name after the Doctor’s name and so I will do that,” said Brajalal Tripura.
