AGARTALA / GOLAGHATI, Feb 6 (TIWN): BJP leaders clashed centering a cattle-carrying vehicle after a group allegedly tried to extort the vehicle driver. The incident has left two party leaders injured.
The incident happened in the Kanchanmala area in the early morning after a car was stopped by Juba Morcha leader Prasenjit Das. The car was carrying cows.
Centering that incident two groups of BJP party started fighting and both groups left others injured.
FIR was lodged in Amtali PS and then another counter FIR was lodged in the same police station.
Golaghati Mandal’s Juba Morcha Secretary Prasenjit Das and Booth President of Ward No-8 of the same area are the injured persons.
Prasenjit’s family alleged that the booth president attacked Prasenjit first.
On the contrary, booth president Abhijit Biswas alleged that Prasenjit sought money from the cow-carrying car and beat up the vehicle driver and Abhijit and his group stopped Prasenjit when the incident happened.
Allegation of creating disturbances in the area from Durga puja to various occasions and extortion have been raised against Juba Morcha leader Prasenjit. Some more persons named Hari Shankar Bhowmik, Shekhar Debnath (Tutan), Dolon Sutradhar are also accused of helping Prasenjit in such activities.
However, police so far have not arrested anyone.
