AGARTALA, Jan 16 (TIWN): 2023 Indian Urban Development Ministry conducted competition brought an award for the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) as the city has entered its name amongst the top 54 cleanest cities in the country out of 4477 cities. AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder has congratulated his entire team for this achievement. The award was distributed on 11th January, 2024 in New Delhi. On behalf of AMC, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta received the award along with Additional AMC Commissioner Sajad P (IAS) and Sanitary Inspector Dilip Debbarma received the award.
Addressing media, on Tuesday, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said, “There are more plans about the city. We want to develop it more including renovation of the water bodies”.
“We want common men’s help in this regard so that the seamless development may happen”, Majumder added.
“This prize is a win for the residents of Agartala. We are successful in keeping the city clean with the help of common men here. It never happened in last 25 to 30 years. I congratulate the officials of the AMC for this big achievement”, said the Mayor.
“However, we are not getting the full support of the common men. In house to house garbage collection, 50% people have not participated. Everyone’s cooperation may be helpful”, added the Mayor.
The Mayor further claimed that the water-logging problem of the city was heavily resolved by the AMC in last few years which is a major achievement.
