AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Central Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of India Meenakshi Lekhi on Thursday visited Kailashahar’s Unakoti tourism spot, accompanied by Tripura Minister Tinku Roy. After seeing the beauty of the age-old Unakoti tourist spot, Lekhi told media, “It was an amazing experience. The existence of religion and its dominance are so visible in this spot. However, due to lack of written documentary, it is difficult to understand the origin of the monument. There are several stories which are made centering this magical place. Sometimes, the Janajati population was separated from history but this spot shows, how Janajatis are also parts of the history”.
“This is the place of Shiva. All these show how our predecessors strived to save the religion, amid much obstacles”, she added.
Unakoti is a mysterious spot in Northern Tripura, which has preserved various sculptures of Hindus. In 2022, the tourism spot of Tripura was recognized by UNESCO.
