AGARTALA, Dec 10 (TIWN): BJP marched in a protest rally led by mostly Juba Morcha activists in Agartala city against Congress leaders’ corruption citing biggest ever IT raid held recently in Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu’s property. Income tax officials on Saturday recovered more cash in Balangir as they continued searches on the premises of liquor firms linked to Congress Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand, Dhiraj Sahu.
BJP members on Sunday evening started the protest rally from Krishna Nagar party office and walked around the city led by Tripura Juba Morcha President Nabadul Banik.
“This incident once again has proven that Congress means black money and black money means Congress. We also throw the question to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, where else have they kept their black money in this way?”, said Nabadul Banik.
Most of the cash in these raids has been recovered from premises belonging to the Boudh Distillery Private Limited in Odisha. Around 200 bags were used to pack the cash and some of these bags are still closed.
The cash bags were found in an almirah, following which the I-T department extended the search operations to other locations including the house, office, and country liquor distillery in Sundargarh as well as the corporate office of BDPL in Bhubaneswar, houses of company officials and factory and office in Boudh Ramchikata as well as the Ranisati rice mill.
On the other hand, political war of words over the searches escalated with BJP questioning Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik's silence on whereas Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday accused the Centre of targeting only the Congress and not the BJP. "They (BJP led central government) are only targeting Congress. Let them raid BJP leaders as well. Only then will it be known how much (ill-gotten wealth) they have," Siddaramaiah told reporters.
