AGARTALA, Nov 26 (TIWN): Over thousands of stakeholders were affected due to Battala market massive fire as more than 200 shops burnt on Sunday midnight and the fire extinguishing work continued till morning.
A delegation of CPI-M MLAs and senior leaders visited the affected area and talked to the people.
“What we have seen, it can not be described. It’s horrifying. We have urged the SDM to manage some emergency relief funds for the affected shopkeepers”, said CPI-M leader Ratan Das.
Chief Minister Manik Saha visited the area, and assured that the State Govt will provide full support to the businessmen. “We will make sure that the businessmen can start their business once again and immediately. I appreciate the Fire Brigade staff for their efforts and urgent action; otherwise, the fire could have spread to more and burned various parts of the city”, said CM.
