AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): Raj Bhawan rally of the CPI-M party and other wings of the Left Front witnessed a huge gathering on Thursday in the capital city Agartala. The rally was stopped at the Circuit House, where in front of the Gandhi statue CPI-M leaders addressed their supporters. The speeches were mostly centered on SC, ST and economically backward populations. CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury slammed BJP-led Modi Govt accusing it is trying to destroy all constitutional rights, India’s integrity and sovereignty. Jitendra Chowdhury also slammed the Janajati Surakhsa Mancha for emerging as another set of political game, asking, why can’t they raise voice for the indigenous people who are suffering due to extreme poverty and anyhow trying to survive by selling home produce vegetables beside roads.
CPI-M MLA Sudhan Das said, when BJP is trying to divide the country based on religions, and pitching Hindutva, the minority populations among Hindus are suffering and neglected.
“This is a part of our national program. We have a target to collect 2 crore signatures. In Tripura, we could collect 2 lakhs of signatures from people”, the MLA added.
Apart from Dalit issues, the rally participants also voiced against unemployment, MGNREGA mandays, wage hikes etc.
