AGARTALA, Oct 11 (TIWN): Arrest of Saikat Talapatra now exposing other names who are involved in blackmailing, extortion racket with him. Even top lawyer’s names are coming out for being a part of blackmailing and other unethical works behind social media channel ‘Independent’. West Agartala Police was successful in gathering evidence against controversial blogger Saikat Talapatra for blackmailing a person and collecting money. The victim helped police to show the money transaction record between these two, said Govt lawyer while briefing charges against Saikat Talapatra.

Recently, Saikat Talapatra was arrested from West Bengal with various pending cases.

A fresh case was lodged by Women Commission chairperson Jharna Debbarma and the case was registered under IT Act, then SC/ST rights-related acts after he published malicious news against her without any evidence.

Saikat Talapatra now has been sent to Police remand for 7 days. Referring to the incident, the lawyer stated that police found evidence of victims who were blackmailed by Saikat Talapatra for money and already financial transactions have been recorded.
