AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): With another jolt for the terminated 10323 teachers, their last hope collapsed after Tripura High Court division bench on Tuesday not only dismissed their plea but also imposed a cost of Rs. 25,000 upon them for challenging the previous direction given by the Court. The 10323 teachers appealed to the High Court that their jobs could not be terminated as no termination letter was given by the Tripura Govt and the Tripura Govt said, the Govt never dismissed them, rather the Govt had appealed to the Supreme Court for their jobs which was discarded.
The 10323 teachers appealed that many of them were not a part of Tanmoy Nath case. However, Tripura Govt stated in the court that the Govt did not terminate them, rather Govt with a memorandum notified the teachers that they could not be continued due to the previous judicial order.
Taking the context beyond the Court, it can be mentioned that the jobs of 10323 teachers were sacked by the High Court, which was upheld by the Supreme Court during the Left Govt regime in Tripura. BJP in 2017-18 promised the terminated teachers that their jobs would be restored and the promises were given both in verbal and written forms. After 6 years of BJP’s rule, the promise given to the terminated teachers turned into trash. Many of the terminated teachers have committed suicide due to their job loss.
