AGARTALA, Sep 1 (TIWN): CPI-M leaders led by Party State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Friday seeking a Free and Fair poll for the two by-poll bound seats : Dhanpur and Boxanagar. After meeting the CEO, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said “Based on our past experiences, we have requested the CEO to stop rigging or any kind of unwanted incident on the poll day that’s on 5th September. It has been known that in one of the BJP leaders’ home in Dhanpur, there is a pandal like arrangement to shelter all vote riggers”.
“We have already seen that in last elections, BJP used symbol to rig the poll, organize tense situation to prevent voters to go to the booth. Some of the hooligans were wearing ribbons, some were used ‘tilak’ etc”, said CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury.
The CPI-M party secretary also demanded to sensitize some officials as in earlier polls, it was seen that some officials were involved in helping the hooligans or did not do their jobs properly.
