AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): CPI-M Party’s student wing Students Federation of India (SFI) has observed the martyrs day of Kanu Dey, who was killed in a clash between police and SFI’s rally participants on 1991, July 9.

The protest was launched by SFI at that time after book-sellers made it mandatory to buy notebooks along with textbooks, which was unconstitutional, and illegal.

Today SFI paid tribute to Kanu Dey, on his 33rd death anniversary.
