KAILASHAHAR, July 6 (TIWN): Finally, after nearly three months, the Upa-Pradhan of the Congress-run village panchayat, along with other members of the panchayat, surrendered to the Irani police station in Kailasahar. Four Iranians surrendered to the police on Thursday afternoon, July 6. The four who surrendered are Congress-run Yuvraj Nagar Gram Panchayat Upa-Pradhan Sharif Ali, Yuvraj Nagar Gram Panchayat's two panchayat members Atiq Ali, Zayed Ali and Basrat Ali. It may be noted that Basrat Ali's wife is an elected panchayat member of the BJP party of Yuvraj Nagar Gram Panchayat. Regarding the incident, Irani police station OC Jatindra Das said that on April 14 this year, two gangs clashed with sharp weapons in Yuvraj Nagar village panchayat area under Irani police station.
As a result of this brawl, 5 people were injured and brought to Unakoti district hospital for treatment. As soon as one person named Zafar Ali was seriously injured, the on-duty doctor of the district hospital referred to Zafar Ali. Zafar Ali died soon after being taken to Silchar in Assam.
Later, when Zafar Ali's family filed a written case against thirteen people at the Irani police station.
Police registered the case, and arrested nine people. Out of the nine arrested, seven of them are still detained in the district jail of Kailashahar. The remaining four accused were running away fearing the police. All the absconding accused are also public representatives. The case number in Irani police station is Irani/ps/28/23. Irani police station OC Jatindra Das also said that sections 447/326/354/506/302/34ipc have been applied in the case.
