AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Addressing the occasion of Doctors’ Day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha told Doctors try to keep patients as much as they can instead of referring them to city hospitals.
“There is tendency of referring patients. Many times, it’s aimed to avoid any trouble after death of serious patients. But by doing this a Doctor will not get opportunity to improve his skill. His expertise will not be evaluated, utilized”, said Manik Saha.
“Also, there are tendency of referring patients outside Tripura. Many patients can not trust the service here. So we have to work to improve the overall situation”, Manik Saha added.
“There is a Doctor in this room who is infamous as Surgent-by-watching. That means he does not work but also getting promotion, becoming Assistant Professor”, said Manik Saha. However, immediately CM made a damage repair adding, “I am not sure, whether that person has become an assistant professor or not”.
"Also many are focussed on the Business with the profession. It's a noble profession. You should not take loan for MBBS Education if you have tendency to recover the amount in future by doing business with this degrees. Better you open a shop if you want to make money. There are still Doctors who do not take money from poor people", said Saha.
