AGARTALA, June 30 (TIWN): After the horrifying Rath Jatra festival’s electricity accident caused life losses, Kumarghat PS OC told media that the Rath went in a wrong direction and covered that area which was not permitted by police.
However, question remains, whether police were not present while violating the guideline or not.
As per the primary report, due to height of the Rath it had crashed with the electric wire and the power was not cut during the program and the electric wire with high voltage collapsed on the devotees who were standing in front of the Rath. They were spot dead.
After Tragic incident of Kumarghat Rath festival, ISKCON committee declared free education for the bereaved families.
After 7 people died in the major accident took place in Kumarghat Rath festival, and many were hospitalized, ISKCON finally has come up with an official statement but has ruled out the wood and iron like materials’ debate saying, the people died of earthing. “People died due to earthing and the ground was electrified. Some kids were there when the accident was about to happen and their parents rushed to save their children and in that incident, people including women died. I do not think, there should be any debate over materials uses in the Rath because there is no prohibition. With time, things change and uses of iron in Rath should not be even discussed”.
