Illegal Wood Cutting, Smuggling Go Rampant in Tripura

AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): Amid the celebration of Environment Day, illegal wood cutting remains uncontrolled across Tripura forest areas and these unchecked activities are causing serious concerns for the future.
A vehicle bearing number - TR03H1658 was caught with piles of illegal woods on its Tirthamukh to Chelagang road.
However, the raid was not done by Forest Dept or Police but a local club of Jatan Bari.
Later, being informed, Forest Dept seized the vehicle and recovered the woods. SDFO Pranjit Bhowmik reached the spot during the seizure.
Nobody could be arrested inside the vehicle.
