AGARTALA, January 23 (TIWN): A total of 542 families from 14 gram panchayat and 4 ADC villages under old Agartala were provided with electricity free of cost in their houses.
According to a Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) official the corporation is erecting a 37 kilometer long new electric line and 4 sub-stations in Khayerpur to provide electricity to the rural peoples of the area.
The official further said that hook line problems are developing day by day, it becomes tougher for the corporation to take every possible step. But measures were taken against those who are using illegal hook lines. The aim of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) is to drop the number of hook lines at zero, the official added.
Forty percent of consumers are not paying the electricity bill.
A greater part of the consumers hide themselves from paying the electricity bill and among them 1300 belongs to the Government offices and institutions. Apart from that 30 percent are using illegal hook lines, the official mentioned.
