Agartala, January 21 (TIWN): Traffic violations continue to be frequent in the capital as on average 250 persons are caught flouting traffic rules every day. State police has decided for setting up a closed – circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system in the city, said Smriti Ranjan Das, SP Traffic.
Moreover, it will also keep a tab on criminals and help the police check crime rate in the city. The city will come under a single network and the surveillance system will be integrated with video data analysis, command and control system in the city” informed the police official.
The CCTVs would be installed at 30 places across the city. A total of 12 traffic intersections will come under the CCTV vigil. Apart from this cameras 23 new traffic post would also be installed at places of large gathering and traffic movement, said Das.
Two types of cameras – fixed and PTZ (pan tilt zoom) – with remote – directional and zoom – control system would be installed. The PTZ camera is known as eye – camera. The source said, “ the cameras will be – weather ones and fitted in places to avoid any harm.
The CCTVs would be installed at Battala, Nagarjala, IGM Chowmuhani, Kaman Chowmuhani, Fire brigade chowmuhani, Maharajganjbazaar, Circuit House, North Gate, Jackson Gate, Motorstand, Radhanagar bus stand etc.
