AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): A constant press on the word “peace” and statewide massive campaigning with appeals of peace only displays the pathetic law and order situation and sensitive situation in Tripura right now. Tripura needs strict enforcement and merciless action against political incidents right now followed by 5 years of massive violence experiences after each poll. Law and order have been maintained well so far under Election Commission’s guidance, but Tripura Election Dept authority as if reeling under fear of what will happen once the poll result will be declared.
On social media also heavy campaigning are underway with appeals for peace by various sections of people.
CEO Kiran Gitte has announced that micro-level meetings will be organized on 27th and 28th February with common men, political, media representatives to appeal for peace.
But question remains, will the goons understand the words of peace? Why there was no strong message of legal action against the criminals who would try to disturb the peace? CEO’s message was not strong against the hooligans of the political parties, although he appealed for peace.
Reality is, regardless win of BJP or the Opposition, Tripura is at high risk of violence and that has been forcing the Dept to continue its efforts to campaign for peace, which may work out among a section of people but security arrangements are also highly needed to prevent violence.
Tripura Election results will be declared on 2nd March.
