AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN): Amid statewide violence are continuing, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday visited Bishalgarh and met the post-poll violence-affected persons. Addressing media on Friday in Bishalgarh, Manik Sarkar condemned the incident and said, “This is something which is not new under the BJP Govt. People in the area have been repeatedly attacked but after the election is already over, such activities show that BJP is not coming to power. Out of insecurity the party has indulged in such violence. Election will come and go but what’s the need for such attacks and frightening the people? Unfortunately, some of the BJP backed newspapers are trying to provoke violence further in the state".
"But we, the Left Front never provoke violence. Post poll situation should remain calm and peaceful and it’s Tripura’s culture. That’s the reason, why there is no alternative of the Left Front”, Shah Alam.
Manik Sarkar talked to the locals and appealed to all to maintain the peace as much as possible. He also appealed media to take a responsible role to keep the state violence-free.
Tripura Election was held on 16th February. The result awaits March 2nd.
