AGARTALA, January 19 (TIWN): Tension prevailed at Agartala Government Medical College and GBP hospital here on Sunday night after an in-patient of the hospital died on evening.
Relatives of the deceased and others gathered in front of the hospital on Sunday and demand action against the doctor.
According to the police, Ramu Debnath( 27) was admitted to the general hospital here on 15 January with fractured his right leg and head injury in a road accident. He is from Nalgaria under Ranir Bazaar police station. However, relatives of the deceased alleged in the absence of proper treatment he died. Suspecting foul play and negligence by the doctors, his family members refused to take the body home.
On Sunday evening relatives of the deceased gathered at the hospital and staged a protest demanding action against the doctors who treated the patient. However, RMO of GBP hospital said that there was no foul play, the condition of the deceased was serious when brought to the hospital.
It may mentioned that prevailing of unruly scenes have become a routine affair at the premier and referral hospital of the state citing negligence of duties by nurses and doctors. Meanwhile, there was no power at Jayanti Ward from 8 am to 1 pm on Sunday. Patients of emergency ward, casualty block, post operation ward suffered and treatment have to be carried by using candles and smart phones.
