Agartala, January 18 (TIWN): Five-day long Shisu Utsav- 2015 was inaugurated followed by various competitive events today at Bardowali with the initiative of Kalyan Samity, a social, cultural and sports organization. The Shisu Utsav would be continued till January 22.

Sports and Youths Affairs Minister Sahid Chowdhury graced the dais as chief guest and inaugurated the function. As many as 50 children from different localities have participated in the events where competitions such as song, group dance, drawing, recitation, quiz, were conducted. 

In his inaugural speech, Chowdhury has appreciated the initiative of Kalyan Samity and said, “Every club must stage this kind of programme to encourage the children towards our culture.”

To mark the occasion, blood donation camp, felicitation to the veteran citizens and eminent personalities were conducted by the Kalyan Samity today.

Sishu Utsav is an annual event of Kalyan Samity for performances, fun and get together, said convener of Shisu Utsav Committee- Tuhin Aich. Besides, a vast number of children, guardians and local people attended the programme. The number of audiences during the programme was noticeable.

On the closing ceremony, attractive prizes will be distributed among the winning children of different events and a cultural function will be staged on January 22, said Aich.
