AGARTALA, Jan 25 (TIWN): Under Election Commission’s observation, Tripura Police banned all unpermitted procession, and gathering like bike rallies. In a letter to the Superintendent of Police (SP) IG-Law & Order has instructed the fresh guidelines. Although the impression of letter from I/G of Police (L&O) looks like the action will be taken only against political rallies but it has also busted BJP’s bike-gang’s plans who were seen in massive house-to-house attack incidents, threatening people ahead of poll in bikes. In previous polls, Police did not take any action against such culprits. Before the By-Poll it was seen that even Govt vehicle was used to rig and remove opposition flags and BJP’s bike gang’s house to attacks, terror has now turned into a political culture sponsored by the ruling party.
However, Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken a challenge of ‘Zero Poll Violence’ in the upcoming Assembly Poll which is going to be held on February 16.
In a letter to the SPs of all Districts it was directed by IG Law & Order, “No Procession, Bike Rally without permission should be allowed. If any such process is taken without permission stop it using force. The involved bikes will be seized immediately. If any such procession takes place and is not stopped by police, then Departmental action shall be initiated against the concerned OC and SDPO under intimation to PHQ Election cell”.
