Agartala, January 17 (TIWN):Youths belonging to minority community are reportedly been cheated by the department of Minority Welfare and State Minority Welfare Nigam. Government funds are siphoned off in the name of imparting free job oriented vocational training to minority youths. After completion of training providing job by the department is a distant dream for the youths, even they are deprived of from the monthly stipend. No certificates are issued by the department, the corrupt officials are siphoning of the stipend. All the irregularities are coming to light after the trainee youths started raising their voices against the irregularities.
According to report, a Kolkata based institute namely – Indus Integrated Information Management Limited was assigned to train the selected minority community youths. The programme was sponsored jointly by Minority Welfare Department and State Minority Co – operative Bank. The youths were given training on IT, electronic, IT hardware and personal development program for three months. Six center was opened at – Agartala, Udaipur, Sonamura, Salema, Dharmanagar, and Kailasahar for training. Around 540 youths are taking training
As per guidelines all selected youths will be given free training and stipend of Rs 1000 per month. After completion of training the department will make arrangement for interview in private companies and given certificates of international standard from world renowned IT companies - Microsoft, HP, Brownvili college of UK.
Surprisingly, the first batch started from July, 2014 they completed three month training and second batch also started training. Till date no stipend, certificate and arrangement was made for interview. When the trained youths inquired about it from the project executive Nitai Datta could not give any specific date and dodged the issue. The trained youths claimed that it’s just a plan of the department to siphon central government funds.
