AGARTALA, January 16 (TIWN): In a shocking road mishap, two passengers died and seven passengers were critically injured at Kashyamongal area under Teliamura police station, here today.

 The deceased were identified as Santosh Debbarma (35) and Panchakannya Debbarma both resident of Mogbari area under Teliamura police station. All the injured persons were immediately shifted to Teliamura Sub-divisional hospital. But they were referred to GBP hospital in critical condition. They are undergoing treatment at GBP hospital now.

According to sources, the accident occurred due to the rush, negligence driving and overloading by the drivers of both vehicles.

The incident took place at around 10.30 am at Kashyamongal area when a auto bearing number TR01-C-2177 was proceeding towards Teliamura from Kashyamongal area collided head on with a Maruti Van bearing number TR01-M-0357 which was coming from the opposite direction. As, a result Santosh Debbarma (35) and Panchakali Debbarma  died on the spot while other passengers of both vehicles received grievous injuries on their persons. Most of the injured passengers are reportedly the residents of Teliamura.

After getting the information, a vast contingent of police rushed to the place of occurrence and sent them to hospital. Police seized both of the vehicles. A specific case has been registered at Teliamura Police Station in this regard. The driver of the Maruti Van fled away after the incident. A hunt in on to arrest the driver of the Maruti, said cops.
