Addressing media, Mebar Jamatia said, he has been a part of regional parties like IPFT which was determined to its demand for Tipraland, a separate land but today after becoming a ruling partner of a national party, IPFT failed to raise the issue.

Jamatia said, regional parties are not like other parties whose target is nothing but power. Regional parties should function like NGO or any organization which to raise voice for the people.

He said, he thinks as a regional party now to raise the demand for constitutional solution for the indigenous people will be the main target which is possible only by protests and pressuring the Govt.

Mebar Jamatia was a top IPFT leader and also has been a Minister under the BJP-IPFT Govt. On Tuesday, Mebar Jamatia resigned from the MLA post and on Wednesday he has joined ADC’s ruling party Tipra Motha whose main object has been Greater-Tipraland, a separate state for the ADC areas or a permanent constitutional solution.
