AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): After two gangrape incidents in Kumarghat and Kailashahar on 19th and 25th October had shaken the state, CPI-M’s student wings SFI, TSU staged protests in front of Police Headquarter on Thursday raising voice against crime against women and demanding impartial role of police in all rape cases.
The issue turned sensitive as rape allegation raised against BJP Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das whose name was not registered in FIR stating that Chandrashekhar was in Guwahati on that day.
Addressing media, SFI Secretary Sandipan Deb said in last 4.5 years of the BJP Govt, a “Jungle Raj” has been established in Tripura and BJP leaders, party members have been celebrating this era with everyday murdering and raping women.
“Women, girls are no more safe in Tripura. The rule of law has collapsed. When barbarism has gone to its extreme level, Tripura Police have covered their eyes with clothes like Gandhari. Police need to straighten its backbone”, sad Deb.
“In Kumarghat and Kamalpur incidents, BJP’s active workers are involved but it’s sad that BJP Ministers are trying to save the rapists. We condemn the role of BJP leaders and urge police to overcome its silent, biased role against rapists and to save the women of the state”, said Sandipan Deb.
