AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): Congress held sit-in-demonstration on 9 points demand in Khowai. A four-hour mass sit-in demonstration was organized in front of Punjab National Bank in Khowai Subhash Park with 9 points demands for the benefits of Common People.
The demands were raised to increase wages of workers in REGA project, taking timely steps to solve the problem of unemployment, to provide social allowances in the right time, demands also raised to renovate roads in Khowai sub-division area. Demands also raised to regularize drinking water and electricity supply in proper manner. Demand also raised for setting up a border market in Khowai district.
Pradesh Congress Committee Member Paritosh Das, Teliamura District Congress President Bikram Kishore Sinha, Khowai Block Congress Committee President Jatindra Gope, former district president were present at the sit-in demonstration.
District Congress President Bikram Kishore Sinha strongly criticized various activities of the present government, he said that rule of law has to be set up. He alleged that the government is not taking any initiative to curb the rising commodity prices, attempts are being made to harass the leaders, activists and supporters of the opposition party by involving them in false cases. Alleged Violence against women in the state is increasing day by day.
