On Friday, addressing Astabal stadium Manik Sarkar said, “Tripura has its own pride due to its tradition and integrity. Here all people regardless of religion and community stay in harmony. Such a beautiful, democratic state it has been but in last 55 months, the state under BJP’s misruling has been converted almost into a graveyard”.

“Today democracy is under severe attacks. Secularism and unity are under threat. Citizens' rights, personal liberty, press freedom, voting rights all have been snatched. People are no more free to enjoy their constitutional rights”, said Sarkar.

A massive rally was organized by CPI-M on Friday in Astabal stadium. Thousands of people gathered to support the rally and the crowd overflowed the roads causing heavy traffic jams across Agartala city.
