Agartala, January 13 (TIWN): Sudden trip at Palatana causes load shedding in the whole State. Talking to TIWN, CMD of OTPC, Satyajit Ganguly had informed that in the morning at about 4.40a.m, Palatana faces sudden trip off due to the fog which led to the jam in filter. CMD had further clarified that it is general problem in all the gas thermal plant which can be easily rectified. Technicians had almost completed the work and the power generation will be start within next 1hr.
The Sudden shutdown in commercial generation brought the state into severe shortage of power supply that resulted in long and frequent load-shedding for the past 2-3hrs. . On account of continuous technical snags ONGC-Tripura Palatana Power Company (OTPC), the uninterrupted power supply has been badly disturbed, which resulted frequent load shedding across Tripura. Electricity consumers in the affected areas are groaning under the erratic power supply. The situation has forced the TSECL to resort to load shedding which has thrown several parts of the state into darkness for several hours. Sources said that one can easily observe the power connection through hook line in villages.
Power deficit has already touched 100 MW in Tripura following the shutdown of Palatana’s t unit and the State is facing a severe power crisis, according to sources. “To tide over the power crisis, we are buying power from Central pool at high rate of Rs 16-17. said Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) CMD SK Roy .
