AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Bijoya Dashami has been celebrated across Tripura among the Bengali community since yesterday. The immersion process has been continuing now and to end tomorrow. This is the day which marks the ending of Durga puja for a year and Goddess Durga goes back to her husband’s home. From the morning, rushes of buyers were witnessed in sweet shops, markets to purchase food items. Many Bengali families follow a vegetable diet on Saptami, Ashtami and Navami days and breaking the ritual on Dashami non-veg items are cooked. Sweets are exchanged among the relatives, friends.
Women observe “Sindoor Khela” whereas Dashami Jatra is something where children touches their books on Goddess’s feet and elders also touches the feet of Goddess Durga. Immersion is given at Dashamighats where Goddess Durga’s idols are immersed.
