Durga Puja started in Agartala’s ancient Durga Temple amid Rushes of Devotees on Maha-Saptami

AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): On the occasion of Maha-Saptami, rushes of devotees were observed in Agartala’s ancient Durga palace. From the morning, devotees rushed to the temple for Saptami prayers in clean clothes, carrying flowers, bhog etc. From children to elderly persons, all had participated in the festival.
Durga puja has started today with Saptami and to be ended on 5th October with Bijoya Dasami.
The Maha Puja of the Durga Puja festivities begins on the day of Maha Saptami because this is the day that the legendary battle between Goddess Durga and the demon king Mahishasura began. This is a festival that celebrates the victory of the Goddess over the demon.
