AGARTALA, Sep 8 (TIWN): School students, Mid-day meal Cooks facing difficulties to cook over drinking water scarcity at Taiperchong SB South in South Takma under Santir Bazar Subdivision.
The students of Dakshin Takma Taiparchung Para SB School under Shantir Bazar sub-division have been suffering from a drinking water crisis for several months. Due to the lack of proper drinking water system in the school, students are unable to eat mid-day meals properly every day. The on duty School teacher told the media that due to water scarcity the cooks are facing difficulties in Mid- day meal Cooking.
People engaged in cooking sometimes bring water from far away but the school teacher said that those waters are unsuitable to use in cooking, as a result sometimes the teachers have to bring tiffin from the market instead of giving midday meal.
In this regard, the school teacher informed the SMC committee chairman, Panchayat and block officials, but nothing was done. Bagafa, Block Development Officer Dhrithi Shekhar Roy is playing the role of a silent spectator.
In the past, BDO Rupan Das, who was in charge of this block used to get flustered when he heard the problems of the School. It is alleged that the current BDO is not performing his duties properly. According to the school authorities, the water problem will be solved if a submersible is installed in this school.
Now, it is to be seen what kind of steps would be taken to solve the water problem in school.
