AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): At least one BSF personnel died in Tripura this morning after suspected militants of banned NLFT (BM) group opened fire on Indian border guards this morning. The incident took place near remote Khantlang BOP at Shimnapur bordering Dhamchera under Anandabazar police station in North Tripura district which is the tri-junction border area between Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh.

The injured person was airlifted to Agartala and admitted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Girish Kumar Yadav of 145 Battalion of BSF under Panisagar Sector, Madhya Pradesh.
