AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): On Independence Day, 165 important files were stolen from the police headquarters in Agartala. Police of West Agartala Police Station and the police of Battala Outpost detained 3 shopkeepers including 2 suspected thieves and brought them to West Police Station. It was complained by D.S.P Shankarlal Purokayst that at least 165 files were stolen of C.N.13/22/ US 457/380 CPC. How such an incident took place inside the police headquarter it has aroused questions. Role of Police personnel on duty are also suspicious.
The suspected thieves are 1) Vijay Rishi Das (Kalu) of Belonia, Kalinagar, 2) Tapas Acharya of Agartala Bhattapukur.
The suspected buyers of the files are Amit Dey, Subrata Sutradhar who have shops at Howrah market in Battala, Suman Dey, who has his shop at Netaji Chowmuhani.
From Suman Dey’s godown which is located at bypass area, the files were recovered with the initiative of S.I. Abhijit Mandal, Battala O.C. and O.C of West Police Station Subrata Chakraborty.
