AGARTALA, Aug 13 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday while addressing a public rally at Bamutia, Agartala slammed RSS for supporting the British and opposing 'Quit India Movement' of Mahatma Gandhi. Manik Sarkar said, “We are not declining the fact that Congress had a major contribution to India’s freedom fight and without Mahatma Gandhi the mass revolution was not possible but when Mahatma Gandhi raised ‘Karenge ya Marenge’ slogan and started ‘Quit India’ movement, RSS opposed that and alleged, it was creating disturbances in this country. Basically, they were slaves of the British”.
“The same RSS which killed Mahatma Gandhi did not agree with the constitution too. They all wanted Manu Sanghita’s implementation as India’s constitution”, said Sarkar.
Manik Sarkar was addressing CPI-M's youth wings' organized rally with 16 points of demands, keeping the 75th Independence Day ahead.
