AGARTALA, Aug 10 (TIWN): Minister Pranajit Sinha Roy on Wednesday has launched an online booking portal for Tripura Tourism in the presence of Tourism Dept officials at the Secretariat.
Addressing media on the occasion, Roy said, “It’s a new step taken by the Tourism Dept which will help to boost the sector. Earlier also, there was a portal but it turned backdated and so the system has been modernized. I am very happy to inaugurate it”.
“Our Govt has stepped in its 4.5 years. Our target is to make this state No-1. Our state is a small state but full of beauty. Out of 10 archaeological sites in the Northeast, Tripura is holding 8 of them. So to develop the tourism sector, modernization was needed. Due to Covid-19, tourism was badly affected but now it’s time to rejuvenate it”, said Pranajit Sinha Roy.
“Our state is covered by Bangladesh from 3 sides. 70% of the land belongs to Forest. Neermahal like architects and Unakoti like age-old structures are the main attractions of tourists. Now our target is to fulfil the demands of the tourists”, said Roy.
“Tripura has a remarkable place in spiritual tourism and Matabari is now under renovation with 37.8 crores funds. It can be another attraction for foreign tourists”, added Roy.
However, while expecting foreign tourists, what steps have been taken for the security of the tourists, the Minister did not talk about that. Tourists generally check the review of a place before travelling and that’s how a place gets the trust of the tourists from abroad.
