AGARTALA, Aug 8 (TIWN): CPI-M party has observed 80th anniversary of British Colonized India’s “Bharat Charo Movement” (Quit India movement) where Indians led by Mahatma Gandhi raised ‘Quit India’ slogan against the British. Quit India Movement, also known as the August Movement, was a movement launched at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee by Mahatma Gandhi on 8th August 1942, during World War II, demanding an end to British rule in India. Addressing the occasion, Mohanpur divisional Secretary Pranab Debbarma said, “It has been 80 years of the Bharat Charo movement and that reminds us how this independence was achieved after heavy struggle and sacrifices".
"Today, India is again under tremendous problems under the Modi Govt and that’s why the Quit India slogan goes against the BJP which has suppressed the voices, and lifted the unemployment rates”, he said.
“Out of the overall population of India, 65% are 35 years old. But this country is captured by massive unemployment rates. So we have launched this movement against the BJP Govt in voice against the job crisis issues in this country”, said Pranab Debbarma.
