AGARTALA, January 6 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has cancelled his maiden visit to Tripura. Amit Shah was scheduled to make his first visit to Tripura on January 19. Mr. Shah was to make maiden visit to Tripura and a few other northeastern states to boost party organization.
Talking to TIWN, BJP State President Sudhindra DasGupta said that he has been informed about the cancellation of BJP President Amit Shah’s visit to Tripura. later asked about his next visit to Tripura Sudhindra said that the BJP state wing expects his visit next month.
It is mentionable here that following the scheduled visit of Amit Shah the BJP state wing had fixed several engagements for Shah. In this regard asked about the joining of TPGC Subal Bhowmik and Congress leader Arun Kanti Bhowmik to BJP, BJP state President Sudhindra said to TIWN that such a middle rung leaders are tempted to BJP now. “Several people are approaching us and everyone is welcome as a member. None should expect any preferential treatment or a rank in BJP,” he stated.
He said that BJP would gain momentum in months ahead of Tripura’s next assembly elections in 2018. He claimed the party is emerging as a major force to take on ruling CPI (M).
