AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): Massive Mandays corruption was traced in Tripura MGNREGA led the Center to stop the mandays distribution.
Addressing the media, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said, “Earlier regular audits were held for MGNREGA and now it’s reported that the audit is not done properly. However, when an audit was done, it was found that the mandays were not distributed equally”.
“At least a Rs. 480-85 crores of embezzlement was reported and that’s the reason why the Centre has restricted MGNREGA mandays distributions”, said Sarkar.
Sarkar said that Sepahijala Dist is the highest victim of such scams.
A delegation team of MLAs and few elected former administrative members met the DM and talked in this regard. Various demands of the common men were placed before the DM. It was alleged that BJP's Mandal leaders are directly involved in such Mandays distribution scams.
