AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): Expanded contraband trade destroying youths' lives which impacting on Society. Amid increasing the drugs trades detaining the main smugglers who have expanded the Drug Network in Tripura has become heavy for Tripura Police.

Reportedly, Bishalgarh Police based on secret information were in ambush and seized a Swift Desire vehicle register Number-TR 01 BF 0640 in front of Bishalgarh SDM’s office and recovered 65 kg of cannabis from the vehicle.

The vehicle driver identified as Karnajit Das has been arrested.

Talking to media, Bishalgarh PS OC Himadri Sarkar said that the police had secret information that cannabis would be taken by car from the Kamalnagar area under Sonamura PS to Agartala. On the basis of that news, the police of Bishalgarh PS were ambushed in front of SDM office and detained the vehicle.

The detained cannabis amount would be Rs 3 lakh and the case is under investigation, Police sources said.
