AGARTALA, Feb 14 (TIWN): Amid ‘Sabka saath Sabka Vikas’ slogan poor people remain under suffocation in this state. The ongoing street vendors issue is such an example how behind slogans of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas', poor people's livelihoods are being snatched. Reportedly, the Poor flower sellers who have been trading years after years in the Hawkers Corner area, today Municipality staff forcefully took flowers and belongings from the Poor vendors citing they captured the footpath illegally.
The Municipality staff also vandalized the shops on Valentine’s Day, when the selling of flowers is high in comparison to other days. The vendors requested the Municipality staff to allow them to sell flowers at least for today but the staff forcefully took their belongings with flowers allegedly.
An extremely resented flower seller before the media said, “First we were told to continue business on Push Cart, then were told to use Umbrella and we did accordingly, and now they (Municipality staff) are evicting us and snatching our umbrellas.”
Another extremely resented vendor said, “Is this a Govt or Something else? The Govt is kicking on the Public's stomach and for that, the Govt must get ready for the coming days.”
