Agartala, January 2 (TIWN): Five-day long 9th Book Fair is scheduled to be started with the joint initiative of Udaipur Municipal Council, Tripura Publishers Guild, book sellers and other departments at Udaipur Sports Complex ground on January 07 and it would be continued till January 11. Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik would inaugurate the book fair.
It is worthy to mention here; after a break of 4 years since 8th book fair which was held way back in 2010, the state government has initiated to stage book fair at Udaipur sub-division. As a result, the expectations of book lovers are likely to be fulfilled. A section of book sellers have expressed their spleens over the timing of book fair as they remains busy to sell school’s curriculum and syllabi books in the beginning of January.
To mark the book fair, a preparatory meeting was held at the conference hall of Udaipur Municipal Council recently. The meeting was presided over by the MLA Madhab Saha. Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Monika Das, president of sub-divisional cultural advisory committee- Subrata Deb, secretary of Publishers' Guild- Shubabrata Deb and other cultural personalities along with representatives from various departments attended the meeting.
During the book fair, several awareness camps, cultural events, quiz competitions, poet summits, sit and draw competition and many other events would be conducted every day. To make the book fair grand success, advisory committee, working committee and five sub committees have been formed. The fair will be opened from 2 pm and it would be continued till 8 pm on every day during the 5-day book fair.
