AGARTALA, Feb 9 (TIWN): The BSF personnel are continuing their efforts to control the smuggling but despite security at the border areas smuggling has not stopped, resulting, the locals are still in trouble with the BSF personnel in the Boxanagar border areas. Centering smuggling by a group of smugglers forced the BSF to fire rubber bullets. As a result two youths Sohag Mia(20), S/o-Siddique Mia and Iqbal Hossain(15), S/o- Jahangir Alam were injured after BJP’s bullet shot. The injured persons claimed that they are innocent and have no connetion with smuggling.
Reportedly, a group of drug smugglers from Rahimpur Bazar on Wednesday smuggled contraband items through Gate No. 168, but the drugs were stuck in the fence, and as soon as it was noticed by BSF, the jawans tried to detain them which erupted a scuffle between the smugglers and the BSF. Later the BSF allegedly shot two youths on leg, where the two were injured.
Later, the two youths were taken to Boxanagar Social Health Center in a bloody state from where they were referred to GB Hospital for better treatment. Presently, Sohag and Iqbal are undergoing treatment at GB Hospital.
The information was gathered from the injured persons and no statement came from BSF yet.
