AGARTALA, Feb 6 (TIWN): On the day of Saraswati Pujo yesterday, Michael Madhusudan Dutt of Sabroom, a group of miscreants beat up Sagar Das, a first-year student of the college. The injured student went home after receiving treatment at Sabrum Sub-Divisional Hospital and later decided to file a case against them. But before that, a fabricated case was lodged against Sagar Das, the college student, and four others (Joy Das, Sourav Bal, Rupak Biswas, Liton Dey) at Sabroom Police Station, alleging that they had vandalized the college. He was arrested and brought to the police station and told the other three to come to the police station in the morning.
They were arrested at the police station this morning and handed over to the court and were released on bail by the Sabroom sub-divisional court.
Of the five, Sagar Das and Joy Das are not just college students and the rest are not college students and did not even go to college on that day, they said.
Due to the fact that the accused in this case are followers of Sudip Roy Barman, under the pressure of the BJP leadership, the police allegedly arrested them.
It may be mentioned that a blood donation camp was organized at Michael Madhusudan Dutt College, Sabroom on the occasion of Swamiji's birthday on January 12, and former state health minister Sudip Roy Barman was not allowed to attend the blood donation camp on that day. The victim youths were present at the college to donate blood and already they were threatened in various ways and some of them were even beaten and then arrested by police.
