AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): A large quantity of narcotic cough syrup and cash was recovered from a man named Chandan Haldar from Lankamura area under the leadership of Agartala Ramnagar outpost police and Additional SP Pia Madhuri Majumdar on the basis of secret information. Talking to media, Pia Madhuri Majumder said, “It was a joint collaboration with Assam Rifles in Lankamura. During the raid in Chandan Haldar’s house, cash was recovered of around Rs. 5.5 Lakhs and phensedyl were also seized at a huge amount. The seized items will be worth around Rs. 50 Lakhs”. An NDPS case was lodged against Chandan Haldar. Recently, local women of Lankamura area placed deputation to the NCC PS over increasing drug addiction and sales, which are ruining the families.

Tripura is massively suffering due to increasing drug's illegal sales and the young generation is under major threats due to that. Many times ruling party members were found involved in such crimes.

Along with Drugs, under the so called "Nesha Mukt Tripura", AIDS have spiked up and most cases have been suspected due to drug sharings through injections.
