AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): Talking with the local villagers it is known that in 2000 the Govt officials asked the villagers to settle the CRPF camp in their area for a few days. The officials allegedly took signatures from the villagers and now the huge area went under Govt Dept.
Reportedly, the local villagers complained that they have been occupying this area from the time of their ancestors, they planted around 800 rubber trees in their area and their livelihood depends on the income of the trees. They have been seeking compensation since the SP office was set up in 2012 but the administration was not paying compensation.
Today, the affected farmers were obstructed while a boundary wall was constructed between the Sepahijala SP office and DM Office and demanded compensation.
However, later the administrative officials assured that the matter is being investigated and compensation will be given after inquiry.
Police from Bishramganj Police Station rushed to the spot to control the situation.
