AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): GB has successfully done the first open-heart surgery in Tripura.
Reportedly, Madhabi Rani Das (46) of Udaipur underwent open-heart surgery at GBP Hospital on January 20.
The patient had shortness of breath and heart disease. For a long time, she was plagued by this problem. At the GBP hospital, doctors diagnosed a large atrial defect in her heart. Then the preparation for surgery began.
This surgery took about 5 hours. At present the patient is healthy.
The patient has got the benefit of free surgery as it is under the Ayushman project.
The operation was carried out by a team of 15 people led by Dr. Konak Narayan Bhattacharya, Consultant & Incharge, CTVS & IR department. Dr. Anindya Sundar Trivedi, Dr. Surjit Pal.
