“In 1882, 19th Jan the union called India strike for the right of Labour. Their main demand was that in the rural areas farmers have to be paid minimum wages, and that was the 1^st Kisan’s protest, which was joined with the Labour Protest. On 19^th Jan during the protest Police first attacked in Benaras and killed 2 Youth leaders. Then in Tamil Nadu Police killed 3. 10 People lost their lives in India during the Protest due to brutal attack of Police”, said leftist leader Pabitra Kar while observing the day.

Leftist leaders paid homage to the martyrs who were killed brutally by Police during the protest.
